2016 LVJGA Southern Nevada Junior Amateur

The Las Vegas Junior Golf Association hosted the Southern Nevada Junior Amateur at Boulder Creek Golf Club, which was the second major of the the 2016 Season.  Juniors battled the elements that featured the patented Las Vegas Heat and high winds.

In the Boys 15-18 Year old division, Cameron Gambini followed up his recent College Prep Tour victory with back-to-back solid rounds of 73-69 (-2) 142 total.  Joe Williams got hot in Round 2 and nearly ran down Gambini by shooting the low round of the tournament (68).  In the end, it proved to be one shot short ending with a 143 total.  Rounding out the podium was Coronado Golfer Jalen Hodges with a consistent even par 144 total.

It didn’t take long for Jackson Parrish to get acclimated to his new home.  In just his second LVJGA event he is taking home top honors.  Parrish took a his four shot lead from Round 1 and extended it in Round 2.  He ended the event with a 2-day total of 157.  Logan Bleazard finished second and 11-year old Avery Lazarski finished third.

The Girls 15-18 division proved to be interesting as Gabby DeNunzio held off Riana Mission in a sudden-death playoff to earn the top honor in the Girls 15-18 Division.  Both DeNunzio and Mission ended Round 2 with 159 totals (78-81).  In third place was Danielle Oberlander, who will also be representing Southern Nevada at the upcoming Junior Girls America’s Cup in Modesto, CA.

The Girls 12-14 year old division came down to a sudden-death playoff that went 3 holes.  Logan Allen did everything she could to take home the gold, but in the end Breanne Nygaard would not relent the prize.  Nygaard took a par on the 3rd playoff hole to take the 1-stroke victory.  Sloan Pyatt finished off the medal stand with the 3rd place honor.
